This September, Opera Europa’s Fundraising and Sustainability Conference was held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain. The conference focused on the topic of “Green Philanthropy”, bringing together opera professionals, experts and guests who exchanged ideas on sustainable funding opportunities in opera and ballet.

During this 3-day conference, FEDORA was involved in the following sessions:

Opera is Relevant: Brand Value and Social Responsibility

On Wednesday, September 28, FEDORA's Director Edilia Gänz moderated this session with a panel of experts including Steinunn Birna Ragnarsdottir, CEO and Artistic Director of Icelandic OperaCecilia Canemyr, Account Manager External Relations at Royal Swedish OperaDan Cooperman, Chief Advancement Officer at OPERA America, and Tony Followell, Managing Director at TRG Arts. The panel discussed topics such as community engagement after COVID, American vs European funding strategies, sustainability reports, and FEDORA's Next Stage Grants.

Collaborative Projects on Sustainability

On Thursday, September 29, Helena de Winter representing Chapeau! Culture Consulting led the workshop on Collaborative Projects on Sustainability. Müge Naz Altay, FEDORA’s Funding Programmes Manager and Justine Touchon, FEDORA's Members and Development Coordinator contributed to this session focused on exchanging ideas and experiences related to raising funds for sustainable projects. Workshop participants were able to discover lighthouse initiatives and brainstorm future projects.



Keynote on Sustainability in a Company’s Vision  

FEDORA's Branding Expert Partner Landor & Fitch also presented a session titled Keynote on Sustainability in a Company's Vision led by Hannah Berthaut, Growth and Global Innovation Director. She discussed how companies can shift sustainability from a cost to an investment while giving real-life examples across various disciplines.
